Svalbard - home of the midnight sun. It is an archipelago approximately halfway between the north of Norway and the North Pole (within 600 miles from the latter). There are five main islands, the best-known of which is Spitsbergen, home to the most northerly settlement in the world. It is the year-round home to polar bears, walrus, Arctic foxes, some seals and whales, and summer home to many migrating birds such as auks, puffins, guillemots, phalaropes and geese.
