Matai Bay, Karikari Peninsula

Matai Bay, Karikari Peninsula

Matai Bay forms a double beach way up in the north of New Zealand's "Far North", on Karikari Peninsula. Reached by an unsealed track, it is remarkably popular as a "freedom camping" area. As the area is Maori "tapu" (sacred) land, visitors are requested to be respectful and walk only on the beach section, not on the elevated ground.
