A web search for nature photography holidays resulted in my taking a three-day trip to Finland in 2007. Martinselkonen Lodge lies approximately half-way up Finland, just south of the Arctic Circle, and within 700 metres of the Russian border. From overnighting in a hut deep in the forest and observing European brown bears all night, the seeds of wildlife photography germinated, and it was a natural progression to visit polar regions thereafter.
